Dark Side Light| Nuit Blanche |
Dark Side Light| We are accepting submissions which focus on conceptual issues of the relationship between the light, the dark, and the construction of the two. We invite artists to explore the questions of Boundary. Where does darkness end and lightness begin? Can the two be seprated? Can they be fluid? What is the impact of light and dark within our personal psyche or the collective?

SHOW EXTENDED!
Sept 6-15, 2013

12pm-4pm
Comprised of new photographic works and experimental films, this exhibition attests to an indulgence of decadence and the degenerate. The artist's photos (taken with a 35mm toy camera) and 16mm films are assembled amongst found artifacts to map (and embellish) upon a personal history of artistic practices. These works, transfixed in the process of imagined origins, pageant recognizable geographic sites, vestiges, and a widespread delight in failures.

Open City Lite: CLIFFORD presented in pristine VHS! Event
JULY 26th 7:00-10:00pm
Open City Cinema is launching a new series dubbed 'Open City Lite' by our very own Ryan Simmons. Open City Lite will screen debatable classics that are unintentionally watchable based almost entirely how bad they are.
We asked ourselves, since we're screening these craptastic works of art, why not raise the bar and insist that they be screened on an antiquated format as well? We answered, why the hell not, VHS should do it.
So without further adieu, we bring you Clifford.
From Roger Ebert:
(Half a star out of a possible 4)
"A movie like this is a deep mystery. It asks the question: What went wrong? "Clifford" is not bad on the acting, directing or even writing levels. It fails on a deeper level still, the level of the underlying conception. Something about the material itself is profoundly not funny. Irredeemably not funny, so that it doesn't matter what the actors do, because they are in a movie that should never have been made.
What we have here is a suitable case for deep cinematic analysis. I'd love to hear a symposium of veteran producers, marketing guys and exhibitors discuss this film. It's not bad in any usual way. It's bad in a new way all its own. There is something extraterrestrial about it, as if it's based on the sense of humor of an alien race with a completely different relationship to the physical universe. The movie is so odd, it's almost worth seeing just because we'll never see anything like it again. I hope."
